Dr. Leheta completed his undergraduate work at Wayne State University, then in 1983 received his medical degree from Nikolaus Copernicus Academy of Medicine in Krakow, Poland (Jagiellonian University Medical College). His postgraduate education included training in Internal Medicine at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Pontiac, Michigan, Residency in Neurology at University of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago, Illinois, from 1986 to 1989, and a fellowship in epilepsy and neurophysiology at Rush Presbyterian – St. Luke’s Medical Center, Chicago, Illinois, from 1989 to 1990. During his training as an epileptologist, he received several honors, including the junior Investigator Travel Awardee of the American Epilepsy Society (1990) and the Epilepsy Foundation of America, Merritt Putnam Clinical Research Fellowship Award (1988). He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as well as the American Society of Neuroimaging Comprehensive Neurosonology examination, Ukrainian Medical Association of North America (UMANA) Executive Committee- secretary (2005-2007). In addition to his appointment as President of Michigan Neurology Institute, he is Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit, Michigan.
